it-girl: Lauren Hastings

Many of you may know Lauren Hastings as the girl who called the cops when Lindsay Lohan stole ten thousand dollars worth of her clothing, but I think it’s high time we give Lauren the kind of fame she deserves.

Lauren was first discovered by Face Finder in a Fresno Mall. After doing a few shoots and walking a runway, FORD Models signed her and she stayed with them for I believe about two years. She is now signed with Elite Model Management along with other models like Alessandra Ambrosio, Coco Rocha and Harley Viera-Newton.

Between acting and modeling, Lauren has already made quite an impact on the entertainment industry. From Old Navy and Taco Bell commercials and playing Britney Spears in Justin Timberlake’s music video for Cry Me A River to having a full spread in S Magazine, it’s pretty obvious that her career has only just begun.

Lauren, a good friend of Mark Hunter, can often be found on the Cobrasnake (most recently modeling for the CobraShop), and seems to hang out with many of the other Runway Hippie it-girls: Ruby Aldridge, Ruby Corley, and Atlanta de Cadenet.

Before I continue any further, I have to speak a bit about her modeling. I have never seen a model with such a versatile look! If it wasn’t for her beautiful tattoos, I don’t think I’d recognize her half the time! It is truly a gift that she has, and I think it is going to take her career very far.

Lauren was sweet enough to agree to a Q&A with me. It’s always nice to get some real answers about these girls, as opposed to just reading everyone’s assumptions about them.

RH: What are your top three style staples?
LH: Dresses new and vintage, anything Alexander Wang, ankle boots always, and ripped shirts with holes in them (my boyfriend is not a fan of the shirts with holes haha)

RH: Who is your style icon(s)?
LH: Kate Moss, Lou Doillon, Anna Karina

RH: How would you describe the way you dress?
LH: It would be a bit of white trash, southern, grungy, not made up, and I’m not big on accessories…unless there earrings

RH: Who’s your favorite band or artist?
LH: I love NIN and Tom Petty, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan…fuck and Led Zeppelin. Can’t choose just one.

RH: You have the most wonderful tattoos. What’s the story behind them?
LH: My two favorites are the two on my right wrist. It’s “mumpa” which is my mother’s nickname and the 13 because I am born on a Friday the 13th full moon.

RH: Do you have a favorite book?
LH: Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi with Curt Gentry and Women by Charles Bukowski

RH: What’s your biggest indulgence?
LH: Dark chocolate and vanilla lattes, oh yeah and shopping

RH: What is your favorite modeling experience?
LH: Working with Rankin for S Magazine and Ellen Von Unwerth for the Britney Spears “Fantasy Perfume” commercial

RH: What’s your motto?
LH: I Believe or I could quote my mother and say “In the immortal words of Yoda: Do or do not there is no try“

RH: Do you have a song of the moment?
LH: It’s always been Sweet Thing by Van Morrison

RH: If you could live the life of someone else for a day, who would it be??
LH: Anyone from the food network because I love to eat good food.
