Picnic

April 2, 2010

This weekend, a bunch of friends and I are having a picnic in celebration of the warm weather and…Finn‘s 1st Birthday!!

I haven’t had a picnic in such a long time and I am really looking forward to sitting outside with friends and throwing a ball for Finn while munching on yummy snacks and sipping sangria. While I like to imagine myself sitting on a typical checkered picnic blanket while pulling grapes out of a wicker basket, I don’t exactly have such supplies. A girl can dream though, so I thought I’d put together some things that make up my dream Saturday picnic.

Pendleton Vintage Ganado Blanket – $248 -a good colorful blanket is a must for a picnic. The thicker the better because then you don’t risk the chance of walking away with a wet backside. I love the colors and aztec print of this pendleton one.

Banana Leaf Picnic Basket – $25 – a picnic wouldn’t be a picnic without a woven basket. This one from Target is both affordable and large for my big appetite.

Check Shirt Smock Dress – $65 – flowy dresses are perfect for picnics because they cover you up when you sit cross legged and also allow for stomach expansion. Since I couldn’t find a checkered blanket, this checkered dress is a perfect substitute.

Pick Up Sticks – I LOVE GAMES! Board games, card games, you name it! Pick up sticks was one of my all time favorite games when I was younger and would be the perfect addition to a picnic because the sticks won’t blow away!

Bubbles – $0.59 – bubbles are great for any sunny day outside. Enough said.

Retro Block Ipod Speaker – $25 – this lego speaker has been my saving grace on many an outdoor occasion. Don’t be fooled by it’s tiny size, this little guy can blast quite a tune.

Erin Wasson LowLuv Aztec Ring – $68 – this ring by Erin Wasson’s jewelry line, LowLuv, is a great bold accessory to add some edge to practically any outfit.

Cocobelle Braided Ankle Strap Sandal – $120 – despite their comfort, I find flip flops to be a total outfit cop out. These cocobelle sandals are easy to throw on but add some rugged cuteness to an otherwise girly look.

Perforated Argyle Cardigan – $19.80 – a light sweater is crucial for any day spent sitting outside. This cardigan is just the thing you’ll need to throw on when the breeze gets a little chilly.

Corseted Tote – $298 – what would an outfit be without a cute bag to go with it? I am absolutely obsessed with this corseted tote from Anthropologie. It screams picnic!
