I ride my bike year round in NYC, but there’s something to be said for cruising around on quiet, empty streets in Connecticut with the sun on your back and the beach at the end of the road. I remember riding my bike on the same streets when I was little and finding the smallest bumps to be the biggest moguls and the minor hills to be like climbing a mountain. Oh, how the times have changed. The things that haven’t changed? The quick ride to the tennis courts and the fact that I’m still as clumsy and uncoordinated as when I had the luxury of training wheels.
These past two weekends seem to have revolved around eating and drinking, so I’ve been opting for looser, billowy blouses and moomoos flowy dresses since these mini bike rides don’t seem to be providing the kind of “cardio” I was hoping for. But that’s what’s summer’s all about, ain’t it? Eating. Drinking. And being Merry. Tra la la, leedle dee dee.
