The Nutcracker

Here’s something you may not know about me: I was training to be a professional ballet dancer up until I was 16 when I got injured and had to stop. While I love what I’m doing with my life now, ballet will always hold a special place in my heart – though you’ll never get me in a leotard and tights ever again (bathing suits are rough enough).
Last night I went to see The Nutcracker with my fam-damily, which always works up a stream of emotions in me. Laughing, smiling, crying, convulsing, sneezing, coughing (ok, forget the last two I got carried away) but honestly, it’s like a crazy roller coaster ride in my little orchestra seat! This is most likely because I danced so many parts in The Nutcracker (that’s me up there as Clara) and I have nothing but the happiest of memories being up on that stage, but it also just puts the cherry on top of the whole Christmas season. I still know all the choreography and dance it around my house (call me a loser, I dare you), and Christmas just doesn’t feel like Christmas without the sounds of Tchaikovsky’s Nutracker blasting throughout the house. Well…that and lost of presents under the tree!
Thoughts on The Nutcracker my lovely readers? Love it? Hate it? Dance it? Never seen it? Wish I would stop asking questions?
TELL ME!

I recently just saw The Nutcracker as well, here in Canada. It is amazing!, it is a christmas tradition for me!
I go see the nutcracker every year here in Georgia. It is my absolute favorite christmas tradition!
Danced it. Loved it. Miss it.
I love the Nutcracker! My sister was a ballet dancer for almost 13 years and one of my closest friends still dances ballet and is already in her 20′s. She dances the Nutcracker every single year and I always go. It’s a fantastic tradition.
dance it every year (started out as an angel, moved up the ranks into clara and snow/flowers and this year for the past 2 years i’ve been dancing marzipan) and i love it! i’m a professional ballet dancer with a company in providence, ri, so i know what you mean when you say it doesn’t feel like christmas without a little (or in my case a lot of) nutcracker. loved seeing your clara picture, so adorable! merry christmas :)
