Aside from Rainbow Brite, I’ve never been big on rainbows – sartorially speaking. It’s enough of a challenge for me to wear an abundance of color on a day-to-day basis, so a little ROYGBIV action is usually out of the question. But then, one year ago, Christopher Kane’s Resort 2012 collection popped up on Style.com and my rainbow neglect was officially over. The collection (see here) was full of ombre rainbows that I could totally imagine Rainbow Brite wearing if she grew up, started dating, and road her horse to parties and events. But she’s a cartoon so basically I’m just imagine myself wearing this collection now that I’ve grown up, started dating, and
take the subway ride my horse to parties and events.
Unfortunately, my budget doesn’t have much room for a variety of $2,000+ rainbow print dresses, so I tortured myself for about two months by going to Opening Ceremony and trying them on in the dressing room. Serious.Torture. Finally, someone caught on, and that someone is a brand called Motel. Bless them for hearing my cries for a Rainbow Brite x Christopher Kane knock off that could fulfill my need for something so deliciously
brite bright without breaking my bank account.
