François

Remember that episode in Sex and the City when Carrie gets the “Sad Mac” and rushes her pashmina-wrapped laptop to Tekserve? That was me for the past few days, hence the lack of posts.

Here’s a brief synopsis of what happened, hopefully without boring you entirely: I tried updating the software on my beloved François, but just as the installation process was coming to a finish, he shouted at me “CORRUPTED HARD DRIVE.” After a few attempted home remedies and several emotional breakdowns, I realized this wasn’t a do-it-yourself kind of job. François needed to be rushed to the emergency room and to the emergency room we went.

What I mean by emergency room is the notorious “Genius” Bar at the Apple store. I feel sorry for those “Geniuses” as they get a lot of flack for a title they didn’t give themselves. However, it’s still annoying to work with a said “Genius” when you’re sitting there thinking “hey buddy, I already tried the reboot process. Got anything else up in that noggin of yours?”

I’ve had some pretty terrible experiences with these Geniuses: I’ve lost all my music, watched a 35 page essay delete itself, and received several lectures on how big of an idiot I am for not backing up (I now back up, FYI). And while I know that none of this is the Genius’ fault, I so want it to be because there’s no way I’m blaming this on myself or François.

Anyways…

After seven hours in the Apple store and a very patient genius named Sam, I’m happy to report that François is back at home where he should be and in excellent health.

I apologize for not being around all week, but next week is full of lots of new outfit posts and the friendly ramblings you typically find here.
