I know you guys were expecting a “Week in Review” for today, but let’s mix things up shall we?

Ok. Here we go!

The first store on my Mastercard Priceless New York shopping tour list is Flying A, where affordable casual chic jeans, jackets, and jumpers hangout with 1960s boho dresses and romper boots. I admittedly had never heard of this store before but now have it wedged into my hefty list of must-stop Soho shops. I must have tried on over eight pairs of their colorful denim this past weekend and am still cursing myself for not buying a pair of Pour la Victoire chestnut brown boots. Another item on my “curse myself for not buying” list are some ridiculously cute necklaces with teeny tiny animal charms (and when I say teeny tiny I mean it – a little piggy’s tail was less than a centimeter long!). As much as I try to convince myself that my style is sophistication at it’s finest, I have a serious weakness for cute animal accessories. Luckily, now that Flying A is on my radar I’ll have plenty of other opportunities to buy the aforementioned boots and necklaces and all those other pieces I deem as “necessities.”

I know I said awhile back that I was “officially moving” out of my apartment, but then my schedule got all wonky and busy and I just haven’t had the time. But that all changes after Fashion Week (feel free to point your fingers and loop me into the Sh*t Fashion Girls Say group).

If you follow me on Pinterest (which you should), you may have noticed that I’ve been pinning all kinds of interior photographs that aren’t the usual cluttered bohemian palaces you’re used to seeing from me. Maybe I’m losing my edge or maybe I’m gaining one, but ever since I started my “life cleanse” I’ve been into elegant, uncluttered interiors, which for me means organized chaos. Here are some images I plan to use as inspiration for whatever interior designs my future apartment may hold.

I talked about them and here they are; the Burberry London platforms I’ve been kicking and screaming over ever since I saw them on Miroslava Duma during Fashion Week, and at a fraction of the price might I add.. I admit their height took a little while to get used to (I might have almost toppled down the stairs while running to catch the subway) but they’re surprisingly comfortable and well, this won’t be the last time you see them. As for the poncho concoction I’m wearing, thanks to yesterday’s warmer temperatures (50° and sunny in January? Ok, NYC, I’ll take it!) I was delighted to leave my coats on their hangers and wear something less bulky but still perfectly cozy. Now the question is, how long will this “heat wave” last?

I’m kind of obsessing over this look. Monochromatic color blocking at it’s finest and that’s just from looking at this lady’s rear! I wonder what’s going on in front. My gut tells me it’s a white blouse but my butt tells me it matches her pants. Thoughts? Predictions? Curiosities? What do you think is going on up front? Let me hear it!

Holy moly, it feels like Christmas Eve. Karl Lagerfeld’s affordable line Karl, hits Net-A-Porter tomorrow and I am doing back flips with excitement. Not only is it a collection that emulates that androgynous style I so enjoy (skinny trousers, structured jackets, fingerless gloves and Karl’s signature collar? Yes please!) but it also makes me feel a little less guilty that I’m so often drawn to black and white pieces. My fingers and toes are crossed that this collection doesn’t disappear in .5 seconds like the Missoni x Target collaboration (though I was able to score this little baby) but I have a feeling it’s going to be one of those things I need to set my alarm for. On your marks, get set, go!

Its currently cold and rainy in New York, which always manages to kill my sartorial dreams for the day. Even with the world’s chicest trench coat, I still feel icky and my hair turns into a frizz machine. Perhaps I should just follow the ol’ trend of throwin’ on a baseball cap – especially when we saw so many of them Miu Miu’s runway – but the cap routine has never been for me and thus I’m left with unruly wisps until the humidity drains out. Or I could shave my head…

For no reason whatsoever, I felt sluggish and poopy all week. Nothing felt right when I got dressed in the morning, the hours of the day creeped by, and the contents of my refrigerator are well past their expiration date. But that all ends today. I’m taking a stand against all poopiness and will fight every urge I have to curl up in a snail shell this weekend. Aside from continuing my Mastercard shopping excursions, I plan to tick some items off my to-do list and cherish each moment of free-time I have. Plus, the Niners are playing the Giants on Sunday and that will, no doubt, be epic.

The virtual shopping cart has become my best friend and worst enemy. On a daily basis I check to see whether my favorite online stores have any new products, sale items, or anything I could have possibly missed on my previous day of internet browsing. Wall Street Journal? PSH! Gimme some Shopbop and Net-a-Porter, stat!

Though I do love me some shopping posts, there’s no way I could put one up everyday, plus I think that would get a bit redundant for you. Thankfully, RewardStyle has saved the day with the launch of Currently Obsessed; a little webpage where you can see all the things that tickle my fancy and will most likely end up in a style post. Plus it’s a great way for me to keep track of all those items I put into my virtual shopping carts that don’t exactly make it past the purchase button. Check out my store here!

Before I get into the outfit details, allow me to explain this photo shoot location. Emily and I went to Petco. Why, you ask? Well, for one it’s cold outside and I didn’t feel like freezing my fingers off and I also just happen to love pet stores. This should come as no surprise since I’ve done everything but keep my obsession with animals a secret. We eventually got asked to leave (no photos in Petco, go figure) but we managed to get some time in with some playful kittens, a few fishies, and a couple of fat hampsters.

Now onto the outfit…

Some weeks I’m as creative as they come when I get dressed in the morning; trying out different patterns, prints, silhouettes, potato sacks, etc. This week was not one of those week and you’re pretty much lookin’ at my day-to-day uniform. Simple graphic tee, skinny black jeans (duh), basic blazer, and some booties. Ordinary? Yes. Polished? I’d like to think so. Worthy of a trip to your local pet store? Definitely.

As I mentioned before, I’ve teamed up with Glamour and MasterCard to take Mastercard cardholders on a shopping excursion throughout Soho. This past weekend was the official kickoff and it did not disappoint! Starting at Ground Support, a Soho coffee shop which boasts some seriously good coffee and homemade peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that I can’t stop craving, I met my first few shoppers for a brief style consultation before we hit the frosty pavements to get our shop on. With a total of three stores on our itinerary – Flying A, Patina, and AvaMaria, all of which I will highlight in the next couple of days – my shoppers and I turned into serious scavengers as we scoured the racks trying on colorful trousers, vintage statement jewelry, and discounted designer shoes that make my toes wiggle with delight.

I’ll be doing this for the next few weekends and can’t wait to meet my next set of shoppers!
