SIDEWALK ▲ CAFES

October 13, 2011

I don’t know why but something about this outfit makes me think of traveling to Europe with friends and eating/drinking at sidewalk cafes. I think it’s because all of the pieces by American Living are versatile and comfortable (crucial when packing) and yet a pop of raspberry red lips, a bright flower and a classic pair of heels make them slightly more sophisticated.

One of my favorite things about traveling with friends is the process of getting ready for a night out on the town. Everyone’s rummaging in each other’s suitcases, the frequent question is “does this look ok?” and by the end of an hour spent getting ready, everyone is wearing each others clothes and usually far dressier than they need to be.

Although I don’t have any travel plans in the near future, I’m definitely making a mental note of this outfit for the next time I jet off to a fun place with friends.

»· Style Icon: Miroslava Duma ·«

October 12, 2011

During New York Fashion Week I saw a girl wearing this Derek Lam cape jacket and ferociously stalked street style blogs until I found out who she was/where I could get that amazing jacket. Her name is Miroslava Duma and her style is the pinpoint of what I deem as perfection. Sometimes boho, sometimes minimal and chic, sometimes straight up glamorous, Miroslava never falls into one style category. Amen!

She used to be an editor at Harpers Bazaar Russia and now does freelance work for a number of editorials but honestly, this girl should add stylist to her resume. She’s not afraid to combine Zara with Christopher Kane (two of my favorites) and I love how she knows hot to dress for her body. I seriously have bookmarked at least 50 photos of her outfits, but this collage is a mash-up of some of my favorites.

Converse are a kind shoe I can never have enough of, so when Target approached me about sending over a pair of Converse One Stars to decorate however I wanted, I obviously said yes. While there was a kit with all kinds of glitter, fabric markers, sequins, etc, I realized that I loved the simplicity of the shoe and wanted to keep them that way. So what did I do? I grunged them up just a wee bit by adding three spikey studs to each shoe. I love that there’s now an unexpected surprise in my simple white sneakers and that they could probably double as weapons if I wanted them too.

Well, it doesn’t stop there. Target would love to send one of you splendid readers a Target gift card and a decorating kit in the hopes that you will decorate your very own pair of Converse One Stars as well!

This past weekend was perfect. I celebrated my birthday with my Mom and my closest friends, I ate more pizza than you can possibly imagine, and I found the perfect party dress for my birthday party.

After browsing around Opening Ceremony and Barneys, my Mom and I stumbled into Jill Stuart (whose collection I pretty much cried over last season) and boing! there was this dress. I tried on a few others but something about the colors in this one had me sold. I love the 1920s vibe combined with the gold accents and accordion skirt - you better believe I was fanning it out all night. Since my birthday party was a bit more low key, I dressed my party frock down with some chunky boots and a leather jacket (when it got cold) but boy oh boy I can’t wait to really jazz this dress up!

And now to announce the winner of the Eden bracelet. But first let me just say, WOW I loved all your comments and I should make you guys tell me what your favorite animals are more often, that was so entertaining! Thank you!

Without furtherado the winner of the bracelet is #25, Gwen Bircham! Email me with your address information and that bracelet will be on its way to you in no time!

Fall is the season where I create my best “runway hippie” outfits. If you’re wondering what on earth that means, allow me to explain. I am as equally drawn to free flowing bohemian apparel as I am to the decadent, high-fashion designs we see on the runway and am thus constantly integrating both styles into my outfits. For example, I am on the hunt for a Penny Lane inspired suede coat with fur trim (mine was stolen about two years ago) and am also coveting everything from the F/W Prada and Stella McCartney runways.

Runway. Hippie. Get it? HAR HAR!

Anyways, as I approach my closet every morning, excited about the fact that I can finally layer my favorite clashing styles, I look to these images for inspiration. Intricate and ornamented Balmain, bohemian Kate Moss, gypsy feathers, armored fingers, oy! I love Fall!
