A Week in Review

My Stella McCartney dress that’s just like “seriously, can you wear me already I’m tired of hanging out in the closet”.
I first just want to thank all of you guys for your feedback on last week’s Week in Review Post! I love hearing your opinions on what I put on here and it’s nice to know you like these end of the week posts! What stood out to me most about them was how they signify the end of the week for you and well, they do for me too. They also make me actually look at and capture what’s happening on a day-to-day basis. I spend way too much time glued to instagram my phone so it’s nice to force myself to bring my camera with me places and look around. And lastly, the Week in Review posts make me think about the weekend and what’s to come.
This weekend will be all about family as my brother’s birthday is today (Happy Birthday, BRO!) and my mom is coming into town so we can open up the house in Connecticut for the season. Which makes me realize it’s time I start planning some barbecues and debaucherous weekend excursions…
Until Monday you pickles.

A quick trip to the MoMa between meetings to say hi to the painting that encapsulates my personality perfectly.

Procrastination mid-edit panic attack.

I wish I could find the words to tell you guys just HOW MUCH I love Peep season.

Two things I’m really into right now: Gifs and Woody Allen.

I can’t believe that the end of summer is so near. Doesn’t it feel like it was just May? Blah.
To grab hold of all that summer has left to offer, I’ve made out of the city plans for every single weekend up until New York Fashion Week — which is so freakishly close it’s, well, freaky! This weekend I’m going back to Connecticut as it’s my Mom’s last weekend before heading back to San Francisco.
And now I have to throw some stuff in my weekend bag before hopping on the train to work! Until Monday…

Cut out dresses are kind of like crop tops — one inch too much or one burrito too many and you look like you’ve never owned a mirror and are just a slave to the trends (major nono!).
I was drawn to the cut out of this Topshop dress because though it’s front and center, there’s still something a bit modest about it thanks to the shape of the dress (love a good shifty A-line). It fits like a gah-luv — read: glove — which is probably for the better since it doesn’t allow that second burrito to wiggle it’s way down my esophagus. Plus, that oversize pizza slice cut out allows for that extra bit of coolness — as in temperature, not a level of popularity — that everyone wants when it’s scorching hot and humid outside.
Had I been wearing this dress in the city, I would have opted for a pair of colorful wedges, but rocks/beach/bike rides call for comfy sandals, which gave my tootsies a rest from their toe squishing, pavement stomping weekly routine. And speaking of weekly routine, I’d better get to work!

{ Flags in Brooklyn }
I’ve spent almost the entire week up in Connecticut with my family and best friend, Claire. We’ve had barbecues on the beach, lit fireworks on the lawn, splashed around in the pool, and drank perhaps one too many bottles of wine every night. In other words, I’m in vacation bliss!
Going back to the city after a week like this is going to be oh so hard, so I’m going to go soak up some more sun before lunch! Hope you all had a wonderful fourth and have a great weekend!

{ Cherry season! }
Right now I’m back in Connecticut – where I’ll likely be for most of the weekends this summer – writing this post from my bed with a view of the Long Island Sound, which from here looks more like the Mediterranean. A group of my friends are coming up tonight to hang out, christen the slip-n-slide, and soak up some sun and I couldn’t be more excited, especially after such an intense week!
Why was it an intense week, you ask? Because this week I bid adieu to my old job and start my new one next week (details to come soon!). Goodbyes like these are always a bit bittersweet for me, especially when it means I won’t be working next to one of my best friends anymore, but I’m excited about this new chapter in my life.
Have a good weekend!
