{ My cacti looking out the window on a rainy week day }
I am tired. I have no reason to be, but I am. Though absent from the usual back-to-back evening events, this week felt long and exhausting which, for me, means epic bags under my eyes. Pretty. Anyone have any handy dandy makeup tips for those evil suckers?
This weekend’s curtain raises with a friend’s birthday party tonight, has an intermission of margaritas tomorrow for cinco de mayo, and closes with a completely blank agenda on Sunday. Brilliant. Here’s a little look at this week’s happenings.
Have a margarita-filled weekend!

Sena Time

I have a love/hate relationship with maxi skirts — not to be mistaken with maxi dresses for which I am always a fan. Being a girl with a toosh, I’ve always been a little self-conscious that maxi skirts only emphasize the area that I usually try to cover up. And then this salmony Sena skirt landed in my fingertips.
Due to my fear of the maxi skirt posterior enhancement, I was initially a bit apprehensive about wearing the silky number. But then I put it on. Rear fear went out the window. Flattering silhouette came billowing forth. A new favorite has entered my wardrobe and it’s not in the shape of skinny jeans, ankle boots, or anything black. Sound the alarms!
And if that’s not interesting enough for you, then perk those ears forward because Sena is offering one of you readers a skirt for your very own sidewalk trotting! Oh, but it gets better. If pink isn’t your color then perhaps you’d like to choose from the nine other colors it comes in!? You lucky duckies! Here’s what you gotta do to enter to winny binny.
- Like Sena on Facebook.
- Show me some Like love, too.
- Leave a comment below with your favorite TV show growing up.

A Taste of Yummy

I’m all over the place when it comes to inspiration. From the outfits I wear to my interior design choices, I’m like a raccoon barreling through garbage cans until I find something that looks tasty enough to use. Most recently, I’ve been inspired by the colors in foods – which my also be because I’ve been eating my face off, but that’s a whole other can of garbanzo beans.
Just this past Saturday I painted my living room “Raspberry Pudding” (no joke, that’s the name of the paint), and I wore a citrus inspired outfit consisting of lime green, lemon yellow, and blood orange red to a dinner last week. And while it’s kind of a gross concept to think about, you can’t deny that the crispy brown of a perfectly roasted chicken is a magnificent hue for a pair of shoes.
“Oh my gosh! I love your boots!”
“Thanks, they’re roast chicken brown.”
Ha!
So, to start your week off with some hunger pains, here are some yummies currently inspiring me in my everyday life.

Miami Breeze

And I’m back from Miami without any semblance of a tan or sunburn thanks to a day of endless rain and thunderstorms that let up just in time for the wedding ceremony. The wedding was so beautiful (and emotional!) and as for the reception? I don’t think I’ve ever danced so much in my life! I’m not one to cut a rug, but there was something about being with my best friends and adopted family that had me throwing all inhibitions out the window and tearing up the dance floor until it was time to go home. The dress you guys picked out for me also played a major role in my dance-a-thon. All that billowy fabric served as a major asset to the dance moves I didn’t even know I had in me. But let’s keep talking about the dress…
When it first arrived I was so skeptical. It was a total tent on me and looked more like a nightgown than an evening dress fit for a Miami wedding. But after some trial and error I cinched the waist with a red belt that ended up adding a nice pop of color to the breezy look. I completed the outfit by matching my lipstick to the belt, keeping things neutral on my feet, and going for some much needed sparkle by way of my clutch.
Now the next challenge is making this dress casual for a summer day in the city. Thank you all for picking something so beautiful for me to wear!

A Week in Review

This week sucked. I felt stressed from the time I woke up in the morning to the time I went to bed, I had a full blown tears meltdown yesterday, I have a zit on my face that warrants it’s own zip code, I burnt the roof of my mouth on quinoa — basically I’m worn down. So, as you can imagine, a weekend in Miami with two of my best friends for a friend’s wedding is just what the doctor ordered.
Here’s a little look at moments from this week that didn’t suck – a preview of my new favorite jewelry brand: Charming Charlie, playing cat with my friend Sevan, and finding the perfect pair of vintage Gucci sandals to go with the dress I’m wearing tonight.
Have a great weekend and I’ll be back on Monday, hopefully with a sunburn tan!
