A Week in Review

I think if you were to go back to around this time last year I would be writing the same exact thing. Holy Fashion Week prep and I’m not ready at all. My apartment is a mess, I haven’t taken my clothes to the cleaners, and I probably should have started that whole diet thing a few weeks ago. Oops!
I realized last night that I’m about to head into my 11th season of Fashion Week, which is pretty nuts and also really awesome. Dreams do come true kids. And while I should probably be “preparing” this weekend, I’ve decided to leave it all for Monday and enjoy my last few days of socializing before I go completely off the radar. Here’s to the last weekend of summer!

Potted Plant
Even though my room growing up was bright pink with a floral canopy and bedding, I hated floral prints. I remember my Mom bought me a down jacket that was orange with big flowers on it and I threw a huge hissy fit about how much I hated it. Brat attack. Sorry Mom.
In the last few years however, I’ve really grown to embrace the whole flower thing; though it still doesn’t hang on my bedroom walls. Since I’m all about doubling up on prints these days — gingham, stripes, polka dots, etc — I thought I’d test my pattern mixing luck with a floral blazer and dress. I’m quite pleased with the results, though a friend of mine told me I look like one of those potted plants on a window sill. Whatever…those are pretty.

A Week in Review

I am tired. I have no reason to be, but I am. Though absent from the usual back-to-back evening events, this week felt long and exhausting which, for me, means epic bags under my eyes. Pretty. Anyone have any handy dandy makeup tips for those evil suckers?
This weekend’s curtain raises with a friend’s birthday party tonight, has an intermission of margaritas tomorrow for cinco de mayo, and closes with a completely blank agenda on Sunday. Brilliant. Here’s a little look at this week’s happenings.

Springspiration
Ok, it’s supposed to snow today in New York which is PREPOSTEROUS because this time last year I was on my roof working on my tan. Not ok Weather Man. Not. ok. If I don’t see a glimpse of spring in the next week or so I’m going to have a climate breakdown. I don’t know what that looks like, but it doesn’t sound pretty. Until then, I’ll just have to find solace in the photos I’ve been gathering/taking as my springspiration.
Pretty Little Things
I don’t collect many tangible things. I attempted to begin a cactus collection about six months ago and still only have two cacti. I also tried to start a snow globe collection and have about three in my apartment right now, not exactly what I would call an ample collection…
Something that I have managed to collect over the past few years is an extensive amount of pictures that I store in a folder on my computer. I am constantly going into this folder to draw inspiration for work, personal style and decoration. Since a lot of these photographs influence what I put on Runway Hippie, I thought I’d share some of my current favorites with you.
