Unicorns and Moisturizers
Every time I get a facial which, let’s be honest here, is once every six months (maybe), the dermatologist recommends at least five products that I need in order to keep my skin looking radiant and healthy — cause that’s totally something that’s attainable for me. Right…
Nevertheless, I without fail walk out with a whole new set of beauty products that I have no idea how to use and less money in my pocket than I initially intended. Now don’t get me wrong, I love beauty products and I think that’s why I always end up buying whatever the dermatologist recommends. I’m still convinced that someday I will find the miracle potion that will make my skin look as good as a photoshopped photo from a Neutrogena ad. Kind of like I’m still convinced that unicorns exist.
One of the most common dermatologist recommendations I get is to use two different face lotions for day and night. Why? I have no idea, but I do this anyways because Svetlana at Bliss Spa is a genius, right?
As a result of my inability to say no to Dr. Genius’s suggestions, I have more moisturizers than I could possibly hope for. I sample them all and have yet to find the miracle combo but am currently quite satisfied using Fresh Soy Moisturizing Cream with SPF 20 (gotta use that SPF!) for the daytime and Shiseido Purness Gel Cream at night because it’s super light and doesn’t feel like it’s clogging up my pores.
Do I still have breakouts? Yes. Am I glowing like a Victoria’s Secret Angel? No. Am I likely going to switch up this combo in the next few months? Yes. What am I getting at here? What I’m getting at is though I have yet to see a unicorn, I still believe they exist and that I will see one someday.
Mark my words.
