A Week in Review

{ Upper East Side buildings from beneath my rainy umbrella }
Oh, this week; a remarkable combination of shitty and wonderful. Even as I try to bitch and moan about all it’s annoyances (i.e. getting locked out of my apartment with Finn while wearing boxers and zit cream on my face…), it also brought a bunch of new projects and a website re-design that looks like it will happen before the start of Fashion Week! Hoodily doodily!
This week’s happenings aside, Friday, boy am I happy to see you. This weekend feels kind of like my last summer hurrah as I’m going up to my house in Connecticut with a group of friends and probably won’t be back there until October. Depressing. But that just means it’s time to live it up! Am I right?
Now go enjoy the weekend!

Tangled

{ What my current jewelry “organization” looks like }
Since I had a walk-in closet built (photos soon, I promise), I’ve freed up drawer space that can now hold my ridiculous amount of jewelry. The problem is, I don’t even know where to begin organizing it!
I’ve always considered myself the Queen of Organization (I was a trapper keeper freak in elementary school), but when it comes to jewelry I’m totally lost. Do I organize by metals and colors? Do I organize by types of bracelets? Do I put all my rings into one big box? What if my necklaces get tangled?
How do you go about organizing jewelry!
As usually is the case, I turned to Pinterest for some inspiration. But I’d love to hear how you guys organize your pieces. Especially when it comes to keeping everything tucked away in drawers. Guidance please!

Delicate Baubles

I have been drawn to bold, statement making jewelry for as long I’ve been wearing the stuff. As a wee tot I would rummage through my Mom’s jewelry drawers pulling out everything from gaudy oversize red heart earrings to a colorful star beaded necklace — hello 80s. Then middle school came around and it was all about choker necklaces, slap bracelets, and cheesy earrings from Claire’s. And then came high school with all its colorful plastic hoop earrings and rubber bracelets. Oy.
Now, I still love me some eye-catching jewelry – I’ll even wear a cat ring if the occasion presents itself, and don’t get me started on insect pieces – but recently I’ve traded in my safety pin cuffs for delicate, almost non-existent rings, subdued chain-link bracelets, and simple, everyday necklaces.
Here’s a look at the pieces I’m currently wearing by Gorjana, Catbird, and my new favorite: The 2 Bandits.

A Week in Review

This week sucked. I felt stressed from the time I woke up in the morning to the time I went to bed, I had a full blown tears meltdown yesterday, I have a zit on my face that warrants it’s own zip code, I burnt the roof of my mouth on quinoa — basically I’m worn down. So, as you can imagine, a weekend in Miami with two of my best friends for a friend’s wedding is just what the doctor ordered.
Here’s a little look at moments from this week that didn’t suck – a preview of my new favorite jewelry brand: Charming Charlie, playing cat with my friend Sevan, and finding the perfect pair of vintage Gucci sandals to go with the dress I’m wearing tonight.
Have a great weekend and I’ll be back on Monday, hopefully with a sunburn tan!
