Closet Trends

April 18, 2012

{ A fraction of my striped shirts/sweaters }

I’m still unpacking my apartment – I know, shocking – but I technically still don’t have a closet, until tomorrow, that is. As I continue to open up cardboard, unfold and refold, and prepare for my ultimate closet organization, I’ve noticed a few trends/collections in my wardrobe that have been 100% unintentional. It’s strange how I didn’t notice any of this while I was putting everything into boxes, but now as I unpack I’ve kind of taken a moment to appreciate and realize all the goodies I have! And maybe the next time I go lusting after a satchel bag I won’t try to justify it as a necessity in my closet. Just maybe.

Drunk At Vogue

December 12, 2011

I admittedly bought these Manolo Blahnik‘s after watching that episode of Sex and the City (for the umpteenth time) where Carrie gets drunk at Vogue and falls in love with these patent leather mary janes. Yes, I’m in a serious relationship with Sex and the City (see here for proof) but I’m also madly in love with these shoes and I don’t think it’s only because of the show.

I’ve worn them numerous amounts of times (see here and here for a mere glimpse), and when I received an invitation to have brunch at Vogue with QVC last Friday, there was no way I was going without my “drunk at vogue” shoes strapped to my feet. While I didn’t actually get drunk at Vogue a la Carrie Bradshaw, I did enjoy a delicious pain au chocolat and some coffee before venturing out into the cold with Emily for a walk around Bryant Park.

**I realize I look absolutely exhausted in these photos…hoping this past weekend of rest has changed that.

A Week in Review

December 9, 2011

{ Surprise subway ride on a train from 1931 }

I’ve had an event every.single.night this week and while I’d love to say I’m happy the weekend is here, it’s looking like things won’t be slowing down this weekend either. Although I don’t have any events on the agenda, I’m planning on strapping myself to my desk all weekend to get a ton of work done. Why you ask? Because next Saturday I’m heading back to San Francisco (yippee skippee!) and I want to make sure that I can focus the majority of my attention on Christmas preparations (not to mention I have a ton of deadlines next week that are making me cross-eyed just thinking about them). As much as I enjoy a busy beaver schedule, I’m really starting to crave some time off. Here’s to next Saturday!

Bisous Bisous

November 29, 2011

I have an ever growing shoe collection but admit that until recently I stuck to more classic styles for the sake of versatility. As much as I would love to buy every single krazy kool (see how I did that?) shoe in sight, my bank account is not a bottomless pit. Thankfully, my good friend Jordana Silver just launched a new shoe accessory line full of little bisous, otherwise known as shoe clips, that fasten onto pretty much any shoe (or bag or blouse or wherever you want to put them) in your closet.

Each bisous is under $100 and miraculously turns my drabby, beaten up shoes into a sparkling new pair that feel like a million bucks! Plus they make the perfect stocking stuffer. Talk about a win/win! Get yours here.
