Peek-a-Boo

July 9, 2012

Cut out dresses are kind of like crop tops — one inch too much or one burrito too many and you look like you’ve never owned a mirror and are just a slave to the trends (major nono!).

I was drawn to the cut out of this Topshop dress because though it’s front and center, there’s still something a bit modest about it thanks to the shape of the dress (love a good shifty A-line). It fits like a gah-luv — read: glove — which is probably for the better since it doesn’t allow that second burrito to wiggle it’s way down my esophagus. Plus, that oversize pizza slice cut out allows for that extra bit of coolness — as in temperature, not a level of popularity — that everyone wants when it’s scorching hot and humid outside.

 Had I been wearing this dress in the city, I would have opted for a pair of colorful wedges, but rocks/beach/bike rides call for comfy sandals, which gave my tootsies a rest from their toe squishing, pavement stomping weekly routine. And speaking of weekly routine, I’d better get to work!

Matching the Sidewalk

April 26, 2012

Some people approach an outfit on a grey day by wearing as many bright colors as possible. I’m the exact opposite. I, without fail, end up matching my ensemble with the sidewalk beneath my feet and the grey clouds above my head. Yesterday was pretty overcast, and as you can see I went completely overcast with my look; but to give a little oomph to the dreary day/outfit I went with subtle prints and textures. Who knew leopards would get along with preppy tablecloths so well?

A Week in Review

March 16, 2012

{ I’m having a moment with blue }

Between signing my lease, taking on a few new projects, and having a number of successful brainstorm meetings, I’d say that this was one successful week! I’m convinced it has to do with the weather; long days and warmer temperatures go hand in hand with good things, don’t you think?

This weekend I begin the ever-so-daunting task of packing up my apartment. I’m trying to think of some kind of “game plan” for it, but it’s really just going to come down to breaking a sweat and getting it done. I don’t know about you guys, but I have a lot of stuff – my middle name may as well be Hoard-Accumulate. That being said, I’m excited to find some things I’ve totally forgotten about, and hopefully donate a bunch of stuff that I realize I really don’t need.

Have a great weekend!
