Seasonal Sparkles

November 17, 2011

While we’re on the subject of holiday dresses, allow me to introduce one of my new favorite sparkly numbers from Juicy Couture. Along with being in one of those murkier colors that you all know I love, the gauzy layer on top is actually removable which means I can wear this as a full-blown sequined dress if I want (and who wouldn’t want to?).

Even though this dress is a bit too fancy shmancy for my family’s Thanksgiving dinner, I can definitely imagine putting this on for one of my favorite Christmas traditions, The Nutcracker.

Do you have a favorite holiday tradition? See more of mine over at Juicy Couture!

Hand(bag) it Over!

November 15, 2011

Well ‘ello there, Proenza Schouler pre-Spring 2012 handbags!

It’s no news that I’ve got a serious bit of a bag obsession, so I’ve got no shame saying that I’d love to add these two beauties to my collection! Who needs Vitamin C when they’re carrying a neon/citrus PS11 bag! And I may hate snakes more than anything in the world but I sure wouldn’t mind walking around with this PS1 canvas/snakeskin  tote.

August 1, 2011

I’m so used to cocktail parties that involve awkwardly standing around while guzzling my drink in the hopes of numbing my feet from my pain-inducing heels. However, last week I went to an outdoor cocktail soiree where so much as an inch of heel would have looked ridiculous. Grass and stilettos don’t mix so well.  Happy to give my tootsies a breather, I slipped into this bright silk, chiffon dress and an old pair of sandals that transition seamlessly from day to night. But, I will say that once I got home from the party I immediately ran upstairs and put on jeans and a t-shirt because there are few things more comfortable than that.

Luscious Leather

October 27, 2010

Leather is one of those fabrics that I just can’t get enough of. I love its buttery soft texture, how it adds an edginess to almost any look, and that designers are now using it to make a variety of different garments. Luscious leathers graced the runways of both F/W 2010 and S/S 2011, and the second the temperature dropped in NY people were busting out their leather jackets left and right. I already own two black and two brown leather jackets and far too many leather bags, but I can’t seem to help adding this delicious fabric to my wardrobe. And although leather goods tend to be on the pricier side, they’re durable enough to last awhile and almost always worth the investment; just like a little black dress, leather will never go out of style. Here are some of this season’s latest leather pieces that I’m dying to get my hands on:

  1. Topshop Leather Side Tie Tunic – $145
  2. 3.1 Phillip Lim Leather A-Line Skirt – $595
  3. Maje Anabelle Leather Dress – $685
  4. Fossil ‘Vintage Reissue’ Backpack – $218
  5. Givenchy Leather Cuff – $420
  6. Motif 56. Maxi Wide Zipper Belt – $198
  7. Pointer Elsie Oxford – $264
  8. Helmut Lang Leather and Stretch-Jersey Leggings – $690
  9. Maje Ampoule Leather Top – $485
  10. All Saints Owain Jacket – $690
