Spring 2010: ISSA

September 21, 2009

Daniela Helayel, designer for Issa, pulled together a bright and colorful collection filled with tropical prints and sexy silhouettes. This collection makes me want to start planning a spring vacation to a placid beach asap, and obviously ever piece has to be in my suitcase! Helayel designed spring/summer that will make a woman feel confident and sexy. I will definitely be purchasing pieces from this collection…and then you can find me lying on the beach with an oversized straw hat and a mai tai.

Spring 2010: MATTHEW WILLIAMSON

September 21, 2009

Matthew Williamson’s collection this season was full of glitz and pizazz. Almost every piece had giant sequins and gems that sparkled on the runway; how perfect for a night out dancing. Williamson’s clothing was fun and youthful but it lacked depth. With the exception of a few long, flowy dresses towards the end, Williamson’s silhouettes lacked depth. His past collections had many more layers to them, creating a multifaceted look. It just felt like his collection lacked inspiration. That being said, there were definitely a few looks that I really enjoyed.

Spring 2010: NICOLE FARHI

September 21, 2009

Nicole Farhi’s collection was inspired by the expressionist painter Emil Nolde. Nolde was known for using bright bursts of color which is exactly what Nicole Farhi did. Shorts, shift dresses and loose shirts and jackets were colored in a variety of different color palettes making the entire collection very energetic and vivid. The silhouettes themselves were a bit ordinary, but they were enlivened by the colors blocks of eccentric colors. There were a lot of basic pieces in this collection that will allow for a variety of usage in the spring.
