Super Moon Fiesta

May 7, 2012

Though last week’s rain stayed far away, this weekend was completely gray and overcast, preventing any sunkissed outdoor fiestas and super moon gazing from happening. As someone with a bit of an obsession with the moon (and fiestas), you can only imagine my disappointment (huge thank you to some of my readers for sending me photos of the super moon from where you are!); so I compensated for the lack of sunshine and giant moon glow by throwing together a midday fancy shmancy outfit with a sparkly clutch that reflects everything. Who needs a super moon when you’ve got dozens of mini moons on your bag?

And while the fun outfit was definitely a pick-me-up, it wasn’t long before I was back in jeans and a t-shirt for some quesadilla eating and margarita drinking — both of which played a crucial part in making up for the solar system’s NYC absence.

Holiday Gift Guide – Part One

December 1, 2011

My Mom has always said that nothing gives her greater joy than to shower the people she loves in gifts, and as a result, my brothers and I are the same way. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting gifts (who doesn’t?) but I also have so much fun shopping for other people. Would Gillian wear that blouse? Would Sevan like that bracelet? Does Erin have this cookbook? These are the things that run through my mind every time I go shopping.

..Beckoning Fall..

August 17, 2011

August is a tough month. People are either away, enjoying their last bits of summer or they’re like me, cursing the continuing humidity and anxiously waiting for that first crimson leaf to emerge. Fall will forever be my favorite season mainly because I’m happiest when I can comfortably layer my clothing and can walk around without breaking a sweat.

There are few things more beautiful than autumn in New York; the streets become quieter, the trees transform into rainbows of oranges, reds, and yellows, people are pleasantly wrapped in light jackets or chunky knits, and there’s an unmatchable crispness in the air. I’ve already begun thinking of different outfits to wear once that first fall day really hits, and these are just a few items I wouldn’t mind adding to my roster.

  1. Topshop Silky Stripe Tee – $66
  2. Pamela Love Moon Sterling Silver Ring – $425
  3. Grace Choi Fur Collar – $21
  4. Stella McCartney Burgundy Trousers – $330
  5. Asos Wide Brim Fedora – $43.10

»· Orange Soda ·«

June 16, 2011

When I was little I had a sweet love affair with Orange Soda; I was only allowed to drink it every once in awhile but every time I did I slurped it up until my lips and teeth were orange too. While I didn’t mind the artificial color on my lips, I soon realized that orange teeth were on the grosser side of the spectrum and thus my love affair with Orange Soda ended.

After years of torment and heart break, I’ve finally found a new orange lover that doesn’t stain my teeth: MAC’s ‘Morange’ lipstick. It gives my lips a bright artificial orange hue that adds the perfect pop of color to almost any look. Monochromatic orange outfit topped off with orange lips? Boom! Done! All in all it’s a nice change from the usual bright red lipstick, I just wish it tasted like orange soda…
