Falling For…

October 25, 2010

Every month I subconsciously make a list of things that I’m inspired by, lusting after and falling for. Many of these doodads are featured in at least one of my weekly blog posts, but I thought that as this month is coming to an end I’d feature a group of my current obsessions in one giant post:

1. Navaho Printed Bags – this bag (via) has to be one of the best vintage finds I’ve ever seen. I love the intricate stitching and faded colors which are all complimented by the luscious foxtail.

2. Long Blonde Hair - Every time I’ve grown my hair out to a length that I’m finally happy with, I go the hairdresser and they butcher it all off. After explaining to my latest hairdresser that I only wanted two inches snipped off, I ended up walking out of the salon with seven inches of my long blonde hair hacked off. I know, I know, hair always grows back, but until I get it back to the length that I’m most content with I cannot help but have serious hair envy of girls with locks that fall so beautifully down their backs.

3. No. 6 Clog Boots - There will always be those few items that I sway back and forth on whether or not I should buy. For the past few months I have been adding the No. 6 clog boots (here) to my online shopping carts but have never mustered up the courage to buy them. Well, the time has come – whether my bank account likes it or not, I’m going to purchase these No. 6 boots. I have no doubts that I will wear them practically everyday and that they’ll transition perfectly throughout each season.

4. Ashley Smith - Ashley Smith is quickly becoming one of my new favorite models. I love her gap-toothed smile, “womanly” figure, and the fact that she works out at the same gym as me.

5. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac S/S 2011 Collection – I love the bright, bold colors of this collection and that it was inspired by Le Petit Prince, travel and adventures. These are two of my favorite looks from the runway:

6. Bug Jewelry – I already wear a glow-in-the-dark bug bracelet everyday (see here), but I can’t seem to get enough of these crawly little creatures as jewelry pieces.

7. Lindsey Thornburg - It’s been over six months since I blogged about Lindsey Thornburg (see here) and I still can’t get her cozy cloaks out of my mind. If only they were just a wee bit cheaper and I’d be wearing one right now.

What are you currently falling for?

Style Icon: Georgia May Jagger

May 17, 2010

I have been a fan of Georgia Jagger’s style for quite some time, but since her recent participation in the 2011 Chanel Resort Show, I have fallen in love with it even more.

With lips almost always painted a brilliant crimson red, Georgia’s style is as equally sensual as it is fashion forward. She understands how to mix red carpet glamor with 1960s/70s bohemian chic, which in the end creates an effortless, elegant, and youthful look. At only 19 years old, Georgia’s managed to step out of her father Mick Jagger and mother Jerry Hall’s spotlight, and made a name for herself as model, muse, and fashion icon.

I love her subtle make-up and how she uses color and patterns in almost every single one of her outfits. I definitely wouldn’t mind raiding her closet to say the least.

It’s difficult to put a label on her style because it seems to be changing constantly. From stunning designer dresses like a Vivienne Westwood she borrowed from her sister Lizzie to a giant scarf she turned into a dress to a ripped up tunic over leggings, Georgia falls into practically every fashion category.

Here are some of her looks that I use as style inspiration:

Lonneke Engel

December 3, 2009

Lonneke Engel has been one of my favorite models since I was about 11 years old. There is an innocent sensuality to her that always draws me in. Not to mention her beautiful bone structure and piercingly blue/green eyes. I’m sad that I don’t see more of her today. She used to be all over editorials and was the face of Ralph Lauren perfume for awhile.

I had these photos up in my room when I was 13 years old and when I redecorated (as most youngins going through puberty do) I threw them out :(. I was really excited to see them on her fashion spot thread and thought I’d share them with you!
