Keeping it Basic

February 15, 2012

Hello! I haven’t forgotten about you! My sincere apologies for yesterday’s absence, I’m about belly button deep in fashion week. Anywho, here’s a neutral outfit I put together last week after the color explosion of last Monday’s outfit. A pretty standard, pre-fashion week look for me: skinny jeans, cozy sweater, and a pair of brogues, but I added a smidge of pizazz with the baubley necklace hidden behind my in-need-of-trim locks. The necklace weighs about 4,000 pounds, so any sort of comfort you see in this outfit was overthrown by the weight of the gold member fastened around my neck, which probably has something to do with the squishy face I’m making in the above photo.

More posts to come, but for now I have to get ready for the second to last day of fat-chin week. Yes, fat-chin (thank you Brad Goreski) because I don’t eat for hours upon hours and then suddenly find myself famished and hitting up the pastries backstage like a hungry hippo.

Shows on the agenda today: Nanette Lepore, J. Mendel, Marchesa, and Proenza! Woop woop! Hasta luego muchachas!

A Little Romance

February 1, 2011

Keeping in line with last weeks post “In the Nude” (see here), I thought I’d feature some romantic nudes and ballet slipper pinks that although subtle in color, add that perfect amount of femininity to any look. Although it’s a color I rarely wear, I always feel immediately polished and put together whenever I throw in a good nude heel or blush pink top. It also happens to be a color that works with almost everything; a bold red lip, a pair of black skinny jeans (see mine here) or simply on its own, this whimsical hue belongs in every girl’s wardrobe. Not to mention that its soft, delicate look makes it ideal for spring which, I hope, is just around the corner…

In the Nude

January 24, 2011

Blush pink/nude has to be one of the most difficult colors to pull off. If you’re not extremely tan then you have to be as pale as Casper the friendly ghost to wear such a faint hue. Since we’re in the midst of possibly one of the coldest winters I’ve ever experienced, I think I’m just at that right shade of vampire pale where I can actually wear nude colored clothing without looking like a giant monochromatic blob. What I love most about this light, peachy pink is that its undeniably feminine and girly. The majority of my wardrobe is filled with dark, heavy colors so its a major plus whenever I can throw a soft, dainty color into an outfit. Here are some looks that have me itching to add more of this naked hue to my closet.
