A Week in Review

April 27, 2012

{ Giants game with my brother }

From the moment I stepped off the plane from Miami my schedule has been ‘whoa beans’ packed. With only one night at home to start hanging things up in my brand new closet (!) (post coming soon) I would say I’m quite pleased that it’s finally Friday. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a busy week, but sometimes all I want is a night with three of my closest friends: the remote control, the tv, and the couch. Great group.

Aside from finally getting my closet, some highlights from this week include a Giants game with my brother, the Asos Fall 2012 preview (get your wallets ready, this stuff is off the charts good!), and the Tommy Hilfiger Promise Collection event where I got to meet so many of you wonderful readers!

Now I’m off to wrap up this week before date night with my couch! Have a great weekend!

The Essential

April 11, 2012

Ok, how have I gone this long without a white blazer? I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to switch out the basic black for a crisp white, especially since they both go with just about everything!

When I was putting all my clothes into boxes last week, I made sure to keep the essentials out so they’d be easily accessible during the two weeks that I’m forced to live without a closet (painful). Never before did I think that a white blazer would be a Sonia essential but oh, how it is. I only blog about 2-3 outfit posts a week (as you’re well aware) but let me just say this blazer has made its way into almost all of my daily outfits ever since I received it a few weeks ago.  So if you’re aren’t picking up on the message I’m trying to portray here, allow me to lay it out more clearly: if you don’t already own a white blazer, go out and buy one this very second. Seriously, run…don’t walk!

Moving Day

April 6, 2012

Today’s the big day! I’m moving out of my current apartment and into my new one! There are so many cardboard boxes surrounding me right now I don’t even know what to do with myself – though sitting on them is always fun. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly!

Have a wonderful weekend and happy Passover/Easter!

Americana

April 5, 2012

Unless it’s a Bruce Springsteen concert or the 4th of July, an outfit composed of red, white, and blue is usually a “no no” for me. Kind of like wearing red and green around the holidays – another “no no.” There’s spirit and then there’s spirit and the line between the two is very slender - you’re either the obnoxious person who shows up at a holiday party dressed like a Christmas tree or the meany who refuses to wear any sort of patriotic color combo on July 4th. Come on, not even a blue stripe on your sweater? A star? What gives!?

I received this pair of A|X Armani Exchange pants a couple of weeks ago and admit the whole red pants thing is still a bit of a challenge for me. I either go monochromatic or end up looking like I have more American pride than Uncle Sam. But last week I decided to give in to my nationality and hold up my American passport for all the world to see – not really – though as you can see I did go patriotic from head-to-pointy toe. Sometimes you just gotta embrace a look with a big ol’ bear hug and say to hell with what everyone else thinks (or what my mirror is telling me).

Like my pants? Want some of your own so you can give Uncle Sam a run for his George Washington dollar bills? Then check this out and meet me there!

Bell Bottom Sensations

April 2, 2012

I’ve been really feeling flared jeans lately. While I’ve worn them a few times before (see here and here), it’s only recently that they’ve become an everyday grab. Along with adding significant length to the legs (when worn with heels), they also have the perfect combination of relaxed comfort and sleek silhouette. I also personally enjoy the swishy swishy feel they make when walking – if you look down as you walk the bell goes front and back like a swing – swishy swishy. I totally recognize that the previous sentence is odd and I may be the only one who gets that sensation when wearing bell bottoms, but if you do get what I’m saying then I give you a cyber high-five.

I’m still experimenting with different flared denim looks and would love your input! Do I go big and do the whole floppy hat shebangle or should I keep with the more refined ensemble? Tell me pwease! Other suggestions welcome, too!
