Lolita Summer

May 16, 2012

In the fall and winter I’m all about the edge – give me a leather jacket, dark jeans, and boots any day of the week and I’m set – but once summer comes around I trade all that grungy stuff in for sweet and feminine pieces. This season I’ve noticed that I’m really inspired by the 1950s style of Lolita. Cherry prints, lots of gingham, and saddle shoes are what I plan to gather for the fast approaching season along with Lipsmacker lip balm, lots of bubble gum and a good tan.

Here are some pieces on my summer wish list – can you guess which one I’ve already snatched up?

  1. Miu Miu Gingham Slingbacks – $595
  2. Selima Sun for J.Crew Sophia Sunglasses - $128
  3. Topshop Cherry Glitter Sun Dress – $72
  4. Étoile Isabel Marant Crochet Sweater - $460
  5. Marc by Marc Jacobs Preppy Straw Canteen - $158
  6. BaubleBar Silver Star Studs - $24
  7. Chloé Eau de Parfum (my summer scent) – $85
  8. Style by Marina Denim Jacket - $74
  9. Juicy Couture Cherry Print Bikini Top and Ruffle Bottom - $160/$78
  10. Style by Marina Crochet Skirt - $59
  11. Rachel Antonoff x Bass Saddle Shoe – $138

A Week in Review

May 4, 2012

{ My cacti looking out the window on a rainy week day }

I am tired. I have no reason to be, but I am. Though absent from the usual back-to-back evening events, this week felt long and exhausting which, for me, means epic bags under my eyes. Pretty. Anyone have any handy dandy makeup tips for those evil suckers?

This weekend’s curtain raises with a friend’s birthday party tonight, has an intermission of margaritas tomorrow for cinco de mayo, and closes with a completely blank agenda on Sunday. Brilliant. Here’s a little look at this week’s happenings.

Have a margarita-filled weekend!

{ Freshly painted walls (raspberry pudding!) and a fun new slipcover for my couch! }

{ Favorite reading and re-reading }

{ Fuerza Bruta show in Union Square (image via) }

{ Fun new Erdem skirt patiently waiting for some real Spring }

{ Found a new favorite yoga spot in Brooklyn! }

Ear Piece

March 1, 2012

Ear cuffs are having a moment and I gotta say, I’m kind of into it! I used to be a total earring fanatic but in the past few years they’ve taken a hiatus from my wardrobe. I often feel a little too “done up” when I wear earrings, though they are a perfect way to make a glamorous statement.

These ear cuffs, however, are making me rethink the aforementioned earring absence. I love how, like earrings, they can be big and bold or delicate and elegant, adding just a touch of edge to any look. I just bought this set of 3 ear cuffs and can’t wait to try them out with minimalistic outfits like a crisp white dress and simple pair of pumps. A white dress will require some sort of tan at this point, so I guess I’ll be self-tanning this weekend…

Style Owner

January 31, 2012

You may have noticed a new little button that popped up on me blog this week; but in the likely chance that you didn’t, I’m here to introduce the magical square box on the upper left hand corner of me site.

The box is a link to my brand new store over on Style Owner; a place where you can find everything from my favorite brands to the items I’m currently coveting to trends I’m digging like a dog for his bone. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m someone who spends a ridiculous decent amount of time browsing shopping sites and as a result, I frequently receive questions along the lines of “where can I find *insert clothing item*?” My goal for my Style Owner store is to not only share the items I want more than a double kettle martini with extra olives right now, but to also create categorized “Style Pages” (see under the “All Recommendations” section) where you’ll find clothing/shoes/accessories broken down into specific genres. Going on a hot date? Bitch, I got you covered. Shopping for music festival gear? Consider me your personal shopper. Hiking up Mt. Everest? …I don’t think you want my help there…

Though still a work in progress, do the right thing and check out my store; and as always, I love feedback and requests! So hit me up!
