Weekend mornings are easily my favorite time of the week. Even if I’ve been out late the night before, I can’t help but wake up early to enjoy a little “me” time to catch up on some reading, enjoy a cup (or five) of coffee, and greet the day.
While this doesn’t happen every weekend due to a number of reasons like brunch, hangovers, or forcing myself to stay in bed past 8am, I’ve been trying to take it easy these past couple of weeks as I gear up for Fashion Week.
Are you a weekend morning person or is night time your only way to go? I’m not just asking this for no reason, I really am curious. So tell me! Or don’t…
So I know you all are used to Friday posts being “A Week in Review,” but I gotta tell ya, I have nothing worth reviewing this week. For the first time in what seems like forever, I pretty much got to go straight home after work every day this week and it felt awesome. So instead of boring you with stories of how I spent one night building two Ikea night stands and another night eating too many martini olives – hold the martini – I thought I’d kick off the long weekend with a colorful outfit post!
Behold the first summer shorts debut on le blog. It’s always a bit daunting the first time you put on a pair of shorts because your legs are nowhere near as tan as you want them to be and you curse all those times you decided to sit on the couch with
olives potato chips instead of going on a run. But these Low-Rise Cut Off Shorts in Tangerine by J Brand are too good to leave sitting on the shelf, regardless of the fact that it’s been pouring rain in New York this entire week.
And that is where I leave you. Have a fantastic long weekend!

The Shorts Suit
Summertime always has a more casual feel; from outdoor BBQs to a day spent by the pool, my summertime outfits rarely get fancier than a silky dress. While some of this is because I don’t do well in heat and New York summers are like living in a sweaty shoe, it’s also because if I’m not wearing a breezy dress then I’m likely wearing casual shorts and a billowy top. It’s only from seeing Jill Stuart’s spring/summer 2012 collection that I even considered a shorts suit. What a way to look polished without sweating your ass off! Expect to see me sporting one of these fancy numbers in the next few weeks. I’ve currently got my eye on a denim one by Acne.
