Local Jaunt : Flying A

January 27, 2012

I know you guys were expecting a “Week in Review” for today, but let’s mix things up shall we?

Ok. Here we go!

The first store on my Mastercard Priceless New York shopping tour list is Flying A, where affordable casual chic jeans, jackets, and jumpers hangout with 1960s boho dresses and romper boots. I admittedly had never heard of this store before but now have it wedged into my hefty list of must-stop Soho shops. I must have tried on over eight pairs of their colorful denim this past weekend and am still cursing myself for not buying a pair of Pour la Victoire chestnut brown boots. Another item on my “curse myself for not buying” list are some ridiculously cute necklaces with teeny tiny animal charms (and when I say teeny tiny I mean it – a little piggy’s tail was less than a centimeter long!). As much as I try to convince myself that my style is sophistication at it’s finest, I have a serious weakness for cute animal accessories. Luckily, now that Flying A is on my radar I’ll have plenty of other opportunities to buy the aforementioned boots and necklaces and all those other pieces I deem as “necessities.”

I’m A Little Teapot

December 5, 2011

Here’s a little fact about me: I have a tendency to overheat. Often, when most people are cold, I am a steaming hot teapot ready to explode. On Christmas morning about two years ago I got so hot sitting in the kitchen that my Mom put me outside to “cool off”…it worked, but I felt a little like a dog being told to “go outside.” Woof. Suffice it to say, it sucks most of the time with the exception of fall and winter – the seasons that allow me to bounce around outside without breaking a sweat and can layer as much as I damn well please!

The look you see here is a case-in-point, multi-layered outfit – that’s five layers people – that I put together for a day of Christmas shopping in Soho.  I wore this with the intention of not having to fuss over a big, lumpy jacket every time I overheated while still being warm enough to not regret not bringing one. Well, the outfit was a success! Not once did I overheat nor did I shiver when a crisp wind blew past me. As much as I love coats, this may be the new way to go for busy days filled with errands.

A Week in Review

November 25, 2011

{ New roommate for the next month }

Man, I love short weeks! I’m so excited for these next few days of nothing but the relaxation station. I’m not one for obnoxious crowds so I’ll be skipping the whole Black Friday shopping frenzy, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be hittin’ up some sales on the handy, dandy worldwide web.

This weekend I have absolutely nothing on the agenda (except for tickets to THE CURE! on Sunday), and it feels great. I plan on lounging around with my family, eating leftovers, and obnoxiously singing Christmas carols because as far as I’m concerned, now that Thanksgiving is over, that’s officially OK now.

Joy to the world! Ta tum tum tum.

Here’s a little peep at this past week.

{ Finally got a neon Cambridge Satchel thanks to my amazing friend Sev! }

{ A quick shopping trip around Soho }

{ Tickets to The Cure for this Sunday! }

{ Turkey time! }

You thought I forgot didn’t you! I didn’t! Congratulations to JillyL, the winner of the Stella & Dot clutch giveaway! Please email me with your shipping info.

More giveaways are just around the corner though so STAY TUNED!
