On the Hunt, Again

July 19, 2012

Ok, remember how amazing you guys were when I was on the hunt for those Alexander Wang heels? I so appreciated all your emails with links to ones on sale and similar styles.

Well, I have a new hunt for you amazing readers!

The Mulberry Edie bag from their Spring 2011 collection.

A few days ago I was on the ever-so-crowded subway and was squashed next to a girl carrying this delightful tote. At first I noticed the signature Mulberry closure and then I saw the strap. My first thought, “oh, that’s an interesting idea! Putting a decorative camera/guitar strap on instead of the leather one!” but then I looked more closely. The strap had the Mulberry tree on it as well! Hot diggity dog! That’s a full on Mulberry bag! HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN IT!

So what did I do? I creepily snapped a picture of her bag and began my hunt on the interwebs. So far, I’ve had no luck tracking down one of these beauties. You all know how much I LOVE bags…so, any ideas where I can score one!?

I love you forever.

I’d like to introduce you all to my favorite skirt in the entire world. Not surprisingly it’s by my favorite designer, Stella McCartney.

It popped up on The Outnet a few months ago and I didn’t hesitate to click and buy as it’s been haunting my dreams ever since it came down her Spring 2011 runway. That’s a lot of skirt dreams…

It may seem that I’m on a Stella kick right now, but the truth of the matter is, I’m never not on a Stella kick. Her silhouettes are always flattering and her prints!, well those never fail either. As to whether her pieces such as this skirt are wind proof? Well, that’s still up for debate.

Primary Colors

March 21, 2012

The first day of spring beckons something colorful and breezy, so when I woke up yesterday morning I looked no further than this Marc by Marc Jacobs dress that’s been hanging in my closet since last summer. It’s one of the few lightweight pieces that didn’t get tucked away during the winter months as I was convinced I would wear it with black booties, a leather jacket, and lots of snowy accessoires; but alas I never did and it’s thus been occupying space and staring at me for 6+ months.

Happy to take it out for a twirl (note: if you twirl fast enough you look like a beach umbrella – just sayin’), I let the dress take the spotlight and traded in the lightweight ribbon belt and simple sandals I paired it with last summer for bolder accessories. Weird how adding bulkier pieces make something whimsical stand out that much more; then again, the primary colors in this twirly number are enough to bring a speeding taxicab to a full stop…true story. Just call me the traffic ninja. Or don’t.

Oh, this dress…

I saw this Marc by Marc Jacobs dress on the runway and immediately added it to my wishlist. However, I wasn’t fast enough at buying it and it sold out in what seemed like mere seconds. Equivalent to that of a major blockbuster hit, this dress was out of stock before the model walked off the runway, a total worldwide obsession. So, like any true, hopelessly devoted fan, I  got on a waitlist.

Thinking my dreams of galavanting around in this stripey silk number were officially over, I started to take interest in…brace yourselves…imitation designs that I’d seen hanging in multiple NYC boutique windows. I know, I know, very unlike me, but I was determined to own this dress, or at least something like it. But! like most (Disney influenced) fairytales, my wish upon a star came true and I awoke one morning to find an email in my inbox letting me know that this dress, in my size, was now available. Zippidy do da! 1-2-3 click and it was mine! In just a couple of weeks my perfect, colorful, flouncy dress arrived on my doorstep all the way from Germany.

Being everything I thought it would be and more, I’ve already planned out a variety of different outfits with this dress (boots and a leather jacket anyone?), so you’ll probably see it on here more often than not. Wishes really do come true!

Stompin’ on Chuckies

April 20, 2011

I’ve been wearing some version of Converse since I was about four years old. My first pair was a pair of maroon Converse high-tops that I wore until there were holes in the soles (hello rhyme!), and well, not much has changed with a few of my pairs today. I have a variety of Converse now from the Missoni x Converse high tops to my staple basic black low tops that are pretty close to biting the dust, but when Converse sent over this pair of charcoal Chuck Its my toes and I wiggled with delight. I love how simple they are and that I can slip them on without the tiniest bit of effort. I put this outfit together for a relaxed day of walking and window shopping around Soho and couldn’t have been more comfortable. What this outfit lacks in color is made up in comfort. Now that’s an outfit I can get behind.
