Back in my high school days my straightener was my best friend. Every morning I would sit indian style in front of my full length mirror straightening away, my mom cringing every time the searing hot metal clamped down on my natural wavy hair. It’s not that I didn’t want waves, it’s just that I had zip zero nada understanding of how to work with them. Between the frizz, the fly aways, and the overall poofiness, there was no way I was going to let my high school self walk out of the house without my mane tamed.

My first lesson in curl taming came when I spent a day in the hot tub and didn’t brush my hair after and my locks were perfectly spiraly and wavy. That was the day I learned that my brush was my worst enemy. After that I tested a bunch of different hair products but kept returning to serums and mousses by Paul Mitchell. His products never give my hair that crunchy wet look (blugh), and they whipped all the fly aways I’d attack with my straightener into their perfectly curly shape.

So, when Paul Mitchell asked me to be involved in his The Truth About Curls campaign, it was a no brainer. I was already using his products but was ecstatic to test out his new curl line and not surprisingly, I’m now totally hooked. Throwing my head upside down and scrunching up my waves while they’re still wet is a part of my everyday hair routine and my straightener is left to gather dust (though sometimes I do straighten just the very ends of my hair). But what I really want to know is how you handle your curls, so head over to Paul Mitchell’s Facebook Page and share your #CurlConfession!

And also, stay tuned for my curl how-to in the next few weeks! Toodaloo!
