Holiday Blowouts
Thanksgiving is practically a week away, I’ve booked my plane ticket back to San Francisco for Christmas, and I’ve got about five parties coming up in the next couple of weeks - suffice it to say, the holiday season is here!
Fa la la la la la la la la!
As with every holiday season (see here and here), I’m on the hunt for a few new festive dresses to make the coming month that much more exciting. While last year my picks were a bit more scattered, this year I’ve narrowed my party dress wishlist down to three categories/trends: bold patterns, updated LBDs, and sequins and embellishments. Now comes the even harder part of narrowing it down to just one or two pieces!
Which ones would you choose? (Keep in mind the Thanksgiving dress always needs a bit of room around the waist…)
- Tibi Rococo Print Dress - $462
- Betsey Johnson Envy the Heiress Dress - $398
- Edun Marble Silk Chiffon Dress - $500
- Marc by Marc Jacobs Panthera Shift Dress - $358
- Topshop Tinsel Fringe Dress - $120
- AllSaints Char Dress - $295
- Rebecca Taylor Lace Bustier - $425
- Vanessa Bruno Athé Black-Beaded Dress - $360
- Anthropologie Wink & Rimple Dress - $228
- AllSaints Erodes Dress - $495
- Vince Sequin-Embellished Crepe Dress - $495
- Philosophy di Alberta Ferreti Embellished Lace-Overlay Dress - $322
A Week in Review
{ Vintage inspired fabrics from Paul & Joe }
This week was long, exhausting, and entirely amazing. Starting off early Monday morning with a press preview for a number of my favorite designers including Paul & Joe to spending the rest of the week devoted entirely to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. It was incredible to be able to go backstage, see all the girls, and then watch them walk the runway in outfits that I could only dream of wearing…for Halloween that is. You can find my complete coverage of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Modelinia.
I couldn’t be more thrilled that it’s Friday - especially because I woke up this morning, looked out the window and realized that Fall has officially arrived. It’s as if the trees changed their color over night. Or maybe I was just too busy to notice. Either way I can’t wait to enjoy all of it this weekend.

I don’t know about you guys but office supply shopping and organization has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. During the days of back-to-school shopping I used to make my Mom spend hours in Office Depot as I picked out the perfect assortment of pens, pencils, binders, and lord knows what else I deemed vital to my education experience.
While most people have transitioned to using their cellphones for just about anything, I still write everything down, including my schedule. I used to try and cram everything into this tiny Moleskin calendar but then my friend Ally introduced me to Erin Condren; a site devoted to personalized stationary, iPhone cases, calling cards, and my personal favorite, the ultimate planner. Color coated months, at-a-glance weeks, and conveniently placed to-do lists grace these amazing planners which you can customize right down to the very last detail all for just $50. I seriously feel like a dorky 5th grader happily writing down homework assignments all over again.
.:. Fall ▲ List .:.
Today marks the first official day of Fall, my favorite time of year. Most people find themselves to be the most productive in the Spring and Summer months (spring cleaning, summer fitness routines, etc) but I’m my most productive self in the Fall and Winter. Something about the temperatures, spending more time at home, and all the holidays gets me in the mood to inspire, create, and accomplish! Here is a list of things I hope to accomplish this Fall:
- Go pumpkin picking
- Learn how to needle point (and ultimately make one of these)
- Spend a day in Central Park collecting leaves
- Knit a pair of fingerless gloves
- Take a pasta making class
- Eat the pasta that I hope to make and then go to the gym….

I’m still knee deep in Fashion Week - I have Frosty the Snowman charcoal eyes, zits on my face, and a whopping five blisters on my feet from all the shoesies I’ve been wearing. All glitz and glamor, right? Not entirely. But I’ve been having an amazing time! I’ve never covered so many shows in a season and I’ve gotten to meet some incredible people - including LARA STONE (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), more details to come later in the week!
I thought I’d give a little tribute to some of the shoes I’ve been busting out all week by featuring them in a post with a link to an outfit of me wearing them. I haven’t worn a lot of these shoes in ages, so it’s nice to have them back in rotation, even if some of them give me blisters so painful I’m taken back to my days as a ballerina in pointe shoes.
Aside from the Barbie tennis shoes I wouldn’t take off as a toddler, I’ve always been much more of a bag and jewelry person than a shoe person. But oh how the times have changed. I’m slowly but surely building my designer shoe collection, and while many of them aren’t featured here, you can bet your bottom dollar that they’re sitting nice and cozy in their shoe boxes just waiting to be worn!
